Irini Vouzelakou is an independent cultural manager and creative producer with long experience in international cultural relations, intercultural dialogue and exchange programmes.
She has worked with artists, creatives and institutions across all art forms for more than 20 years, enabling international collaborations, artists’ mobility and partnerships across different sectors, fields, organisations and countries. She designs collaborative programmes at the intersection of culture, education and society and is particularly interested in socially and politically engaged arts, creative and civic education, learning, professional development and capacity building for the cultural sector.
She was Head of Arts (2008-2015) and subsequently Head of Cultural Skills Europe (2015-2022) at the British Council in Athens and in Brussels respectively. She has initiated and/or managed numerous development, training and grant funding schemes for cultural professionals and organisations including the British Council’s Transform Future Museums, Cultural Skills Academy, Athens International Creative Writing School, the international strand of Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries, the EU-funded programmes Live Skills and European Network of Creative Hubs and the philanthropic Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts.
She has an MA in Arts Management from City University, London and a BA in Theatre Studies from the National and Kapodestrean University in Athens.
